From your original Quake II media, copy the pak0.pak file (183Mb), maps.lst, pak1.pak, pak2.pak files and the directories video and players from your Quake2 baseq2 folder on the CD to some location on your external microSD card. Quake has 4 episodes that are split into 2 files: pak0.pak: contains episode 1; pak1.pak: contains episodes 2-4; These files aren't free to distribute, but pak0.pak is sufficient to run the game and it's freely available via the shareware version of Quake. Another nice Quake launcher is Quake Injector www.quaddicted.com, which works on Windows, OS X, and Linux. Quake Injector is dedicated to running singleplayer maps, and it can automatically download/install/launch SP maps from the vast Quaddicted map archive. Today, there are plenty of ways to download Quake for free on the web. Quake Download Links. However there must be a directory 'id1' and inside that directory must be at least a file called pak0.pak and if you own the full version of Quake also a file called pak1.pak. Filename Size md5sum; pak0.pak: 17M (that is 18689235 bytes). The pak0.pak file that comes with Quake is required by all Quake engines. It contains the maps, models, programs, sounds, and skins required to play Quake Episode 1, Dimension of the Doomed. It is expected to be in the ID1 subfolder of the Quake root folder. PAK files are typically named pak0.pak, pak1.pak, pak2.pak, and so on.
Step 1: Prepare original Quake
classicQ requires Quake 1 to run. More specifically, it needs the game data archives contained in the PAK0.PAK and PAK1.PAK files. These two files are always located inside the QuakeId1 folder.
Quake Pak0.pak Download
You can purchase a legal copy of Quake on Steam:
http://store.steampowered.com/app/2310/
If you have installed Quake using Steam, 'PAK' files are usually located in the following folder:
C:Program Files (x86)SteamsteamappscommonQuakeId1
Please make sure you do have PAK0.PAK and PAK1.PAK before proceeding with the next steps!
Optional: Verify PAK files
If you want to double-check that you have the correct files, you can verify their MD5 hashes against the table below.
Quake Pak0.pak Pak1.pak Download
File | Size | MD5 checksum |
PAK0.PAK | 18 689 235 bytes | 5906E5998FC3D896DDAF5E6A62E03ABB |
PAK1.PAK | 34 257 856 bytes | D76B3E5678F0B64AC74CE5E340E6A685 |
You can easily calculate MD5 checksums with Windows PowerShell:Get-FileHash PAK0.PAK, PAK1.PAK -Algorithm MD5
Step 2: Download classicQ
To download classicQ, simply get the latest release (under 'Source code' link) from GitHub:
http://github.com/classicQ/classicQ.github.io/releases/latest
Don't worry, you won't need to compile anything.
Step 3: Generate config file
Config files are text files with the .cfg extension. They contain player settings such as keyboard controls. All Quake settings must be configured using the in-game console or by manually editing .cfg files. This is quite cumbersome to new users. Luckily, you can setup a basic config file using the configurator below.
Firstly, rearrange the keyboard settings (refresh the page to restart the process if needed)

Do you play with inverted mouse?
Next, enter your nickname here:
Finally, click the button below to create your .cfg file:
Please save it as initial_keybinds.cfg and keep it for later use.
You can put it into the same folder with the already prepared PAK0.PAK and PAK1.PAK files.
Step 4: Put everything together
You're almost finished! Now that you have all the necessary files, it is time to copy everything to the correct folders.
- Extract classicQ from .zip file to any temporary location
- Open the extracted files and locate the Fodquake directory (the one with an uppercase 'F')
- Move Fodquake directory to any convenient location, for example D:GamesFodquake
- Next, open that folder and then open the id1 directory (D:GamesFodquakeid1). Copy the previously prepared PAK0.PAK, PAK1.PAK files and the initial_keybinds.cfg file here (you can overwrite the existing initial_keybinds.cfg file)
Congrats! You have finished installing classicQ!
To start the game, go to the Fodquake directory and run the fodquake-gl.exe file.

This is the full installer for America's Army v2.8.3. Although it is the latest full installer available, further patching is required to update the game to the latest version (all required patches and instructions are available on America's Army wiki page).
Note that official support for the game has been dropped. The main authentication server is no longer available, rendering online multiplayer and training missions unusable.
For continued support, it is recommended to use a community-maintained client like Assist (http://aao25.com/getting-started/). - By ThatOneReaperOriginal source: FilePlanet
